Come momento, appunto, è temporaneo, quindi passerà. Solo a Cesena, dove risiedo, ric...

Five years and Five Stars later. Italy versus Migrants.

Image
Images from the internet It took me a bit more than five years to write a new article on my blog. I must admit, if on one hand it was partially due to laziness, as well as my being 100% focused on my job, on the other hand I felt the urge to wait. Time passed but sadly my vision was right. Grillo’s party – populist Five Star Movement (Movimento 5 Stelle in Italian) - won the last elections held on the 4 th of March, gaining the 32% of the ballots. In 2013 – see article below in this blog – I wrote that: «voting Grillo means voting for an empty and dangerous new fascism. It also means do not know in which path the country will walk». Well, now it’s clear where Italy is going. First of all, it is important to make a step backward and briefly talk about the other main character of this tragedy taking place in one of the most beautiful stage’s theater in the world; Italy. Clearly the other protagonist is the rebranded “League” party –formerly Northern League (Lega Nord in Italian)-...

Italian elections: how can Beppe Grillo damage Italy? Italy seen from Slovakia. My point of view.

Image
By less then one week time Italy will have elected a new parliament (Chamber of Deputies and Senate of the Republic). Five candidates are running these elections to be the next prime minister. Actually, in Italy there is not the institutional role of the Prime minister, constitution calls for President of Minister’s Council. However, this clarification is necessary in order to understand what is going on in this electoral competition. Indeed, according to ballots’ results the President of the Republic appoints a candidate as President of Ministers’ Council who needs parliament’s vote of confidence. Anyway, to make the matter simpler I am going to refer to President of minister’s council as Prime minister (PM). The main difference, for instance, is that Prime ministers, see Cameron in UK, have the power to lay off their ministers. President of Minister’s Council does not have this prerogative, his a ‘primus inter pares’ . Considering this, Italians do not vote for PM but for a coali...

God save USA: my personal consideration about announced UK referendum to quit EU

What happens when somebody, at once, decides that a particular political leader is a dictator? And which is the consequence of this action when somebody is named France-UK and that particular political leader is not actually a person but an entire country? Well, it really depends. I think that if the country at issue is Libya, it happens that maybe its people are not fully satisfied that somebody came from abroad to "save them", and if a former great country - Italy - is close to this war stage the consequences are even more dramatic. Last 11 th September US ambassador to Libya -Chris Stevens - was killed by Islamic local terrorists. Few days ago, Italian consul in Benghazi was attacked by an armed group while he was on board of his car getting back home. He escaped unscathed. My doubts are many. In particular I don't really understand how France-UK, for me are an almost unique country, especially as a result of their agreement through which they share their navy, to...

Switzerland calls for ICC intervention

Image
The Syrian days of Rage - facebook page It seems that today international community has remembered about ICC (International Criminal Court). Indeed, William Hague – British Foreign Secretary – published on his twitter a link showing a letter. This is referring to a letter addressed to the President of the UN SecurityCouncil by Thomas Gruber – Swiss chargé d’affaires - to the UN. As a matter of fact, Gruber wrote it “jointly” with other 56 states, and after described situation in Syria characterized by: "summary execution, arbitrary arrest, enforced disappearance as well as violations of children's right and sexual violence" asks UN Security Council for an intervention  and in particular to refer about the situation to ICC. Beyond shadow of doubt this is a good intention. But… a part that I am not sure about court’s power to punish somebody or at least its effectiveness about an hypothetical conviction, who really believe that once Assad’s power will be take off ...

Same behaviour, different treatment

My question is always the same. Why was just Saddam Hussein considered a dictator? He had kept together something which was born after Ottoman Empire's fall, in other words, Iraq. Indeed,  Baghdad, Basra and Mosul were three vilayet of the Turkish empire which UK decided to put together and give to this new subject the name of Iraq. Saddam, and I am far away to be his  sympathizer, created a nat ional consciousness. After intervention in Iraq, put into effect by George W. Bush, what did US create? Nothing or rather they just killed Saddam, enemy of Iran and supported Shiites.  In this way Iran became stronger, with another ally (the new Iraq) and able to threat Israel even worst than in the past. So, if we say that we love Israel, why Western of the world is supporting, of course in an indirect way, Bashar Al-Assad, Shiites and friend of Iran? Why are we doing so if Turkey would agree in participating in a conflict against Syria? What we can see it's somet...
